Special teams and four goals in final 29 minutes gives Moorhead a victory over BSM junior varsity.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- With scheduled opponent Hill-Murray shut down due to Covid-19 issues, Moorhead filled in as Benilde-St. Margarets' junior varsity opponent.

The Spuds scored twice in the final four minutes of the opening period, went onto score four goals over the final two periods, including a short-handed tally and two power-play goals, to claim an 8-2 win over the Red Knights.

After Moorhead had taken a 2-0 lead, Ryan Baird cut the Spuds' lead in half with a power-play goal with four minutes, 17 seconds remaining in the opening frame.

The visitors responded 23 seconds later, added another 1:18 after that, and took a 4-1 lead into the first intermission.

They extended their lead to 5-2 with the first of two power-play goals, which Mason Stenger answered before Abe Carlson scored back-to-back goals, the first shorthanded in the opening four minutes of the final period.

Jack Arnold then finish off his hat trick with a power-play goal with 5:25 to play in the game, giving him four points on the night.

Up next for the Red Knights is Tuesday's game at St. Thomas, which is scheduled for a 5 p.m. opening faceoff.

Ryan Baird's 12th goal of the year was his team-leading third power-play goal of the season.
