And the winner is...MN Boys' Hockey Hub Top Performer revealed

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Hockey Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Dixon Ehlers, Red Wing. The junior goaltender faced a season-high 63 shots, making 61 saves during the Wingers’ 5-2 defeat of Albert Lea on March 4. Ehlers even added to the Wingers’ (4-10-1) offense, recording an assist on an empty-net goal in the final seconds of the third period.

Top performer candidates

Brock Behrend, Luverne. The sophomore forward recorded 12 points between two wins last week as the Cardinals (6-9-0) outscored their opponents by a combined score of 17-5. Behrend tallied a shorthanded goal and three assists to lead the Cardinals’ offense during a 5-3 victory against Marshall on March 5. The next night, Behrend doubled his offensive output, scoring seven times, including one shorthanded, and adding one assist as the Cardinals handily defeated Fairmont 11-2.

Samuel Janski, Park of Cottage Grove. The junior defenseman led the Wolfpack’s productive power play during a 5-2 victory against Woodbury on March 6, taking advantage of their four man-advantage opportunities with three power-play goals. Janski scored all three of those goals, all recorded consecutively between the middle of the first and second periods. Janski added his fourth goal for Park of Cottage Grove (5-10-0) later in the second period.

Easton Parnell, Cambridge-Isanti. The senior forward accumulated 11 points through three Bluejackets wins last week, increasing his season points total to 23. Parnell recorded a point on all Bluejackets goals during a 6-2 win at North Branch on March 2. He scored twice, including one goal shorthanded, and added four assists. Parnell played the overtime hero on March 4 at Chisago Lakes, scoring the overtime game-winning goal after notching an assist on the team’s first period power-play goal as the Bluejackets (11-4-1)  won 4-3. In the team's second consecutive overtime game two nights later, Parnell recorded three power-play assists, including on the overtime game-winning goal, to propel the 6-5 victory against Northern Lakes.

Sawyer Torkelson, Park Rapids. The freshman goaltender backed the Panthers’  2-1 win at Wadena-Deer Creek on March 5, helping the team snap a six-game losing streak. Torkelson recorded a season-high 44 saves and .978 save percentage in the win for Park Rapids (5-10-0).
