First Report

Once they got going, Ty Hanson and Hermantown did not stop in a 3-0 win over Mahtomedi in a matchup between top-three ranked teams in Class 1A.

Hanson scored the game’s first goal with less than five minutes remaining in the second period on a wrist shot toward the top of the Zephyrs’ goal. The one-goal lead remained for Hermantown (6-0, 1-0) until Kade Kohanski scored with less than six minutes remaining in the third period. Hanson also added an empty-net goal in the final minute.

Ben Dardis made 40 saves to keep Mahtomedi (4-3, 1-1) close through most of the game, and Hawks’ goaltender Dane Callaway saved 16 shots.
