And the winner is...MN Hockey Hub Top Performer revealed

Top performer winner

Louie Wehmann, Providence Academy. The sophomore forward recorded an impressive seven points in the Lions' 9-2 victory against Sauk Rapids-Rice on Dec. 28 at the Granite City Classic in St. Paul. Wehmann, who is recording an average of 2.55 points per game this season, tallied two assists in just over one minute's time mid-way through the first period before scoring five goals, including his final three within a five minute, 15 second span early in the third period. Two of his goals were on power plays.

Top performer candidates

Andy Larson, Duluth Denfeld. The junior forward led the Hunters’ 3-0 run at the Heritage Holiday Classic in Duluth last week with 14 points through three games. The Hunters outscored opponents 22-1 between Dec. 28-30. Larson scored nine goals and added five assists through the three wins, including two points on power plays and three shorthanded.

Parker Mitchell, Mora/Milaca. The senior forward produced back-to-back five-point games during the Bill McGann Holiday Classic Dec. 28 and 29. The Mustangs defeated Ely 8-1 on Dec. 28 as Mitchell recorded a hat trick—including one goal shorthanded—and two assists. The next day, the Mustangs defeated Minnehaha Academy 9-2 behind Mitchell’s five goals—including two goals within 22 seconds and another just four minutes later—and two on power plays.

Owen Santiago, Minnehaha Academy. The Redhawks earned their first win of the season on Dec. 28, backed by a strong game from their senior goaltender. Santiago allowed just one goal on a season-high 45 shots, posting a .978 save percentage in the 3-1 victory against University School of Milwaukee.

Luke Sawicky, Osseo. The junior forward helped the Orioles open their Hockeytown Holiday Classic showing in Warroad with an 8-4 victory over International Falls on Dec. 29. Sawicky tallied a season-high five points to lead the Orioles to their first win of the season. He scored two power-play goals to open the game’s scoring in the first half of the first period before closing out the first with a shorthanded assist with one second on the clock. Sawicky added another goal mid-way through the second period before recording his final point, a shorthanded goal, early in the third.
