First Report

Stillwater struck first, but Cretin-Derham Hall trailed for all of 33 seconds before netting the equalizer and seizing control the rest of the way. The Raiders took command of first place in the Suburban East Conference standings along the way with a 5-1 victory over the host Ponies Tuesday night at St. Croix Valley Rec Center.

The Raiders (11-3, 4-0), ranked No. 5 -2A in the Coaches’ Poll, picked up their fifth victory in a row with a steady and fast attack that was sprung regularly by its transition through the neutral zone.

After Ethan Mosley scored on a rebound seven minutes, 30 seconds into the opening period for Stillwater (8-4, 4-1). Raiders’ senior captain Jake Sondreal answered with gritty individual effort near the net that pulled the game even just 33 seconds after Cretin-Derham Hall fell behind.

In the second period, Attila Lippai netted the equalizer, then scored again midway through the third. Moments later, Jake Fischer scored as well for Cretin-Derham Hall, which skated the rest of the way on a victory footing.

On the power play, Jake Sondreal added another with 7:22 left. It was his ninth goal of the season.

CDH goaltender Marko Belak stopped 24 of 25 shots between the pipes to earn his 11th win of the season.
