Top performer winner

Will Ingemann, Wayzata. Hosting No. 2-ranked Minnetonka in the latest Class 2A Let’s Play Hockey Poll, No. 1-ranked Wayzata was ready to defend their ranking. The senior goaltender faced his highest shots total (45) of the season in the Jan. 7 matchup, posting a .978 save percentage after allowing just one goal in the 3-1 victory.

Top performer candidates

Jack Hanson, Chisago Lakes. Following a winless start to the season for the Wildcats through five games, the senior goaltender stepped up big to back two Wildcat shutouts last week. On Jan. 5, Hanson stopped 39 shots in a 4-0 win against Cambridge-Isanti. In addition, he tallied a power play assist on the first goal of the game. Then on Jan. 7, Hanson backstopped a second consecutive shutout, making 29 saves in a 3-0 victory against Alexandria.

Attila Lippai, Cretin-Derham Hall. The Raiders handed Stillwater its first loss in seven games on Jan. 5. In the 7-5 victory, Lippai scored once midway through the second period and added four assists, including one on a power play and one shorthanded. Two nights later, the senior forward tallied a point on each of the Raiders' four goals, recording two goals and two assists—including one shorthanded—in a 4-4 tie against Roseville. With the Raiders trailing by two goals midway through the third period, Lippai scored once on a power play and again at even strength 39 seconds later to tie the game.

Jordan Ronn, Champlin Park. The senior forward has recorded at least one point in each of the Rebels’ games this season and is averaging nearly three points per game, with 31 points through 11 games. Nearly a fourth of those points came during the Rebels’ 8-3 victory at Blaine on Jan 5. Ronn recorded assists on seven of the Rebels’ eight goals, posting one assist on a power play and one shorthanded.

Harper Searles, Centennial. The junior forward is among the state's leaders in assists this season, having tallied 22 assists through 10 games. Four of those came during the Cougars’ 10-0 rout of Spring Lake Park on Jan. 5, when Searles also scored one goal for a season-high five points. He followed that with a four-point game two days later as the Cougars shut out Coon Rapids 6-0. Searles scored a power-play goal and added three assists in the win.
