Top performer winner

Tate Pritchard, Lakeville South. The senior forward is on a seven-game point streak for the Cougars, accumulating 16 points during that streak. Pritchard had an offensive game to remember on Jan. 16 as the Cougars defeated Eagan 8-1. Pritchard recorded his second hat trick of the season and added three assists—including two on power plays—to lead the Cougars’ victory. The six-point night doubled his previous season-high.

Top performer candidates

Jannes Kamp, Southwest Christian/Richfield. Kamp has been kept busy this season, keeping the Stars in games while often seeing a high number of shots. The junior goaltender has given up two or fewer goals in nine of 16 games this season while seeing an average of over 40 shots on goal per game—including in two of three games last week. Kamp posted a .952 save percentage last week, allowing just five goals on 104 shots on goal. The week was highlighted by a 47-save night in a 4-2 victory at Anoka on Jan. 17 and making 48 saves in a 3-1 win at New Ulm on Jan. 21. He narrowly missed his second shutout of the season against New Ulm, when he held the Eagles scoreless until they scored on a power play with 16 seconds left in the game.

Henry Lechner, Holy Angels. The sophomore forward is having a standout season for the Stars, producing an average of 2.87 points per game and leading the team with 43 points through 15 games. Six of those points came on Jan. 20 against Cloquet-Esko-Carlton—a season-high points total—including five points on special teams. Lechner scored four goals—also a season-high—three of which were on power plays and one shorthanded. He also recorded one of his two assists on a power play as the Stars tied Cloquet-Esko-Carlton 8-8.

Brecken Levin, Bagley/Fosston. Levin is among the state’s top scorers, tied for sixth in the state with 26 goals and ninth with 51 points this season. The senior forward is averaging three points per game and is both scoring at a high level and at timely moments. His latest four-point effort was one of those timely games as the Flyers defeated Crookston 4-3 in overtime on Jan. 19. Levin helped the Flyers come back from two separate two-goal deficits, recording two goals and one assist—including a power-play goal with just over two minutes left in the third period to tie the game. In overtime, Levin scored on the power play to send the Flyers home with the win.

Brock Schultz, East Grand Forks. Schultz has been a consistent presence on offense for the Green Wave this season, having recorded points in 15 of their 17 games. The junior forward recorded a season-high four points on Jan. 17 against Roseau, providing that offense when the Green Wave needed it most. After recording one goal and one assist through two periods, the Green Wave were trailing Roseau by one goal. Schultz came through on the power play, scoring with less than two minutes left in the game to tie it. In overtime, Schultz sealed the victory for the Green Wave, scoring an unassisted goal for the 6-5 win.
