Top performer winner

Cody Vlasaty, Rochester John Marshall. The senior goaltender, who has faced an average of almost 40 shots on goal per game this season, nearly recorded his first shutout of the season against Rochester Century on Feb. 4. Aside from the goal he surrendered in the second period, Vlasaty stopped the remainder of the 48 shots he faced, backing the 4-1 victory with a season-high saves total.

Top performer candidates

Blake Imhoff, Proctor. Imhoff was locked in a goaltending duel during the Rails’ Feb. 2 contest against Superior. Each team fired nearly 40 shots on goal, and Imhoff just edged out his opposing goaltender. Deadlocked until early in the third period, the Rails broke the scoreless tie and Imhoff made sure that was all the offense the Rails needed. The senior goaltender made 38 saves for the 1-0 victory—his second shutout of the season. Imhoff’s .935 season save percentage is ninth best throughout the state.

Caden Lee, Chanhassen. The junior forward is leading a productive offense for the Storm, helping the team average nearly five goals per game this season. Lee is one of four Storm players with over 30 points this season, with 10 of his 34 coming last week in two dominating wins. On Jan. 31, Lee extended the Storm’s early 1-0 lead with four consecutive goals within six minutes during the second period, including one shorthanded. The Storm went on to defeat New Prague 9-1. Then against St. Cloud on Feb. 4, Lee tallied a season-high six points to lead the 9-3 victory. He scored four goals, including one on the power play and his second of the week shorthanded, and one of his two assists was also on a power play.

Aidan Willis, Lakeville South. Willis factored into nearly all of the Cougars’ goals in their victories at Cretin-Derham Hall and Shakopee last week, recording nine points on the 11 goals. Against Cretin-Derham Hall on Feb. 2, Willis posted four points in the 5-4 overtime win. The senior forward notched two assists in the second period, including one on a power play, before scoring a shorthanded goal in the third period. With the game tied and sent into overtime, Willis scored 49 seconds into the extra session for the win. Then at Shakopee on Feb. 4, Willis scored once and added four assists—including once shorthanded—for a season-high five points in the 6-4 victory.

Joseph Yoon, Albert Lea. The senior forward is averaging over two points per game and has recorded at least one point in all but three of the Tigers’ 21 games this season. He contributed a season-high seven points against Austin on Jan. 30 and proved his effectiveness in all situations. He was part of a successful 5-for-7 power play, scoring one goal and dishing out three assists with the extra player. His other goal was his third shorthanded of the season as the Tigers won 8-1.
