Losing coach Tony Sarsland pushed the Elks to play No. 3-ranked Maple Grove with extra intensity. The emotion of the game paid of for Elk River (13-8-2), who jumped out  to a big lead in the first period and eventually knocked off the Crimson (19-2-2) 5-3 on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Elk River Ice Arena in Elk River. Goaltender Anders Franke made 34 saves in the win for the Elks.
