To the glee of his many Twitter followers, paralyzed hockey player Jack Jablonski tweeted Tuesday night that he had slightly moved his left leg, ankle and finger.

After he took a devastating hit in a junior varsity game while playing for Benilde-St. Margaret's on Dec. 30, doctors said he would not walk again.

Jablonski made the slight movements while undergoing a rehabilitation assessment at Courage Center, his mom, Leslie Jablonski, said Tuesday night.

"Obviously I'm not a doctor," she said. "It was all done on command, which is also very good. ... I was in tears."

She said she believes he used his hip to make the leg movements.

"It's just the fact that we were told he probably wouldn't be able to do that stuff and he did it," she said. "I can't help but be encouraged."

Leslie Jablonski wrote on her son's Caringbridge website that he was also strapped into a harness Tuesday so that he could work on the treadmill for the first time.
