Levi Talarico scored twice and assisted on another goal, while sophomore goalie Wes Cook turned away 36 shots for his first career win as Duluth Denfeld beat Roseville 3-2 on Saturday Nov. 24, 2012 at the Heritage Sports Center in Duluth.
Nick Tilleson and Ross Stecklein scored first-period goals for the Raiders to give them a 2-1 lead after the first intermission, but it was all they’d muster on the afternoon.
After an Alex Thompson power-play goal in the second period knotted the game, Talarico’s second of the night – a beautiful individual play with the Hunters on a man-advantage – turned out to be the game-winner.
Duluth Denfeld made it interesting for itself, though, parading to the penalty box in the game’s waning minutes. Cook was rock-solid in the third, stopping 22 shots to preserve the win.
Roseville goalie Zach Larson made 17 stops in the losing effort.
The Hunters (1-1-0) host Orono on Friday, Nov. 30 in Duluth, while the Raiders (0-2-0) are off until Saturday, Dec. 1, when they play host to Mounds View.

The sophomore was spectacular after giving up a pair of first-period goals, including one that he said he’d like to have back. Cook was especially good in the final period, when he made some great saves, controlled most of his rebounds and helped the Hunters kill of several penalties to preserve the win.
