Standout Burnsville forward Tyler Sheehy, who was involved in a scary collision with Hill-Murray’s Willie Brown and carted from the ice on a stretcher late in the Nov. 29 game at Aldrich Arena in Maplewood, has been cleared to play on Tuesday against Eden Prairie.

Sheehy, a junior forward who is Burnsville’s top returning scorer (21 goals, 28 assists last season), complained of back pain after the awkward collision with less than a minute remaining in the Blaze’s 2-1 loss to the Pioneers.

“He just tweaked his back a little bit,” Burnsville coach Janne Kivihalme said. “He practiced (Monday). He’s fine. He took some tests and everything was negative.

“He’s good to go. ”

No. 7-ranked Burnsville (0-1-0) plays No. 3 Eden Prairie (1-0-0) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the matchup of traditional big-school state powers at the Eden Prairie Community Center.

“Thanks to everyone who sent thoughts and prayers my way ,” Sheehy said on his Twitter account on Saturday. “It is just a bad back and was mostly pre-cautionary, thankful it wasn't any worse.”

Kivihalme said Sheehy received a round of applause from his teammates when he walked into the locker room on Monday.

“Absolutely, they are excited to have him back,” Kivihalme said. “It was fun.”

Kivihalme said Sheehy, who scored the lone Blaze goal against Hill-Murray, is being courted by several Division I programs and has a visit to Wisconsin scheduled in early December. Michigan Tech and Bemidji State are among the other schools showing interest.
