Andrew Bussey

Senior Andrew Bussey was Hastings’ leading scorer — with 12 goals and 23 assists this season — until he hurt his shoulder in the final regular season game Feb. 14. He will miss the rest of the season.

Take me through the injury. I got kind of a no-thank-you pass [on Thursday] and a guy came off the bench and I guess he gave me an elbow. It was senior night and I’m a senior so it’s kind of sad that I can’t play anymore. And I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t know if I need surgery on my shoulder or not. It’s separated so it’s kind of sad that I can’t play anymore.

What position do you play and what do you like most about it? I’m a wing and I like being able to get up in the play. Just getting in on every rush and help my team win games and score goals.

What’s your favorite part about the game? Hanging out in the locker room and just being with the guys and scoring goals, getting points and winning games.

Play any other sports in high school? I played football ninth-grade year and I play baseball.

Favorite high school hockey memory? Beating Cretin[-Derham Hall] in the first section game last year and going to the section final.

Life lessons taught by hockey? Never take anything for granted.

Superstitions? Get Subway before every game. Eat two oranges and a banana and listen to music.

Do you plan to continue playing hockey after high school? Yeah, I want to play hockey again. Whether it’s intramural or club or I don’t know.

What are you looking at for school? Teaching. I think I’m going to go to Duluth next year.
