Sophomore Mark Lyman scores hat trick in opening period for Bears

CLASS 1A

• SECTION 2: Seventh-seeded Blake upset second seed Mound Westonka 6-4 thanks to sophomore Mark Lyman's hat trick in the opening period. He added a power-play goal in the game's final minutes. The Bears outshot the White Hawks 34-18. Mound Westonka had six players suspended for the game because of an incident in the cafeteria at school on Friday. ... Waconia only got 10 shots off, and couldn't take advantage of two power-play chances.

• SECTION 4: Jack Becker's late goal broke a 1-1 tie and gave second-seeded Mahtomedi a 3-1 quarterfinal victory over seventh-seeded South St. Paul. Becker finished with two goals. The Packers' Grant Amelse stopped 34 shots. ... Third-seeded Totino-Grace relied on two late goals from Derek Lodermeier to push it to a 4-2 victory over sixth-seeded Spring Lake Park. Lodermeier finished with three goals. The Eagles shot twice as often as the Panthers and killed four of Spring Lake Park's five power-play opportunities.
