Skippers goaltender makes 36 saves in key win over Section 6AA rival Benilde-St. Margaret's

Benilde-St. Margaret's struck first, but Minnetonka took over from there, scoring scoring four straight goals to upend Section 6AA rival and No. 7-ranked Benilde-St. Margaret's 4-1 on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Ten minutes into the first period, Peter Heimbold bounced the puck off the glass to Spencer Naas speeding into Minnetonka's zone. Naas rifled a shot past Jacob Berger to open the scoring.

Berger was unbeatable the rest of the way, as he finished with 36 saves. Backed by his stellar play, the Skippers, who were outshot 37-20, rallied in the second period.

Five minutes into the second AJ Klein was wide open when he found a rebound at the side of the net and smashed it home, finally cracking Benilde-St. Margaret's goaltender Grant Long.

Sean McAndrews struck just a minute later when Mario Bertogliat slapped a Red Knight's stick, sending the puck straight to McAndrews in the slot to score, opening the floodgates for the Skippers.

John Schuldt scored Tonka's third goal from the point, sending a bouncing shot past Long, the puck perhaps deflecting off a Red Knights' defender.

Minnetonka boosted its seeding in Section 6AA with the win over the Red Knights, and sealed a Skippers' sweep in the Hockey City Classic after the girls' team beat Eden Prairie in overtime in the previous game.
