Rogers finish strong. Beat Knights 5-2

The Rogers Royals dominated the third period to defeat St. Michael-Albertville 5-2 on Saturday evening in Albertville.

The score was 2-2 after two periods but Rogers outshot the Knights 18-4 in the third period with Matt Hellickson, Nate Weber and Dustin Schoepke all puncturing the net in the first nine minutes.

Rogers improved to 12-3-1 and the Knights fell to 7-8-1.

Weber also scored in the first period along with Mitchell Motter. The Knights  drew even with Logan Nelson and Cody Reckard scoring in the second period.

Rogers goalie Jackson Nelson stopped 18 of 20 shots and STMA’s Kyle Hayden 36 of 41.

Alexander Lorman and Travis Brown each assisted on two goals, and Spencer Marchand, Schoepke, Branden Cecil, Blake Timm and Nolan Walker one each.

Rogers will host Monticello-Annandale-Maple Lake on Thursday.
