Another Minnesota high school boys’ hockey season is about to begin, and, in a twist, we’ll be treated to games before the Thanksgiving weekend. That change will give us an early look at some of the state's top Class 2A teams at the annual Turkey Trot at the Plymouth Ice Center, which features defending Class 2A state champion Edina and highly regarded Holy Family Catholic, Maple Grove and host Wayzata.

Any combination of those four schools would be worthy of our top Game of the Week, but we’ll stick with the tournament's opening matchup between the powerhouse Hornets and a rising Holy Family Catholic program coached by Noel Rahn.

Will Edina look like a state title contender despite graduation losses and key early departures? Will the Fire continue their surge with an upset win? Those questions make the game worthy of recognition as our Top Game of the Week.
