Rogers boys clip Shakopee 4-1

Nolan Walker notched four points as the Rogers Royals took a quick lead and went on to defeat the Shakopee Sabres 4-1 at home Thursday evening.

Jason Roberge scored just 2:51 after the face-off, and Walker made it 2-0 at the 10:48 mark. Shane Smith scored in the second period and Vinny Billing scored in the third.

Walker and Branden Cecil each made three assists, and Billing and Roberge one each.

Rogers enjoyed a 41-13 edge in shots. Sam Scott got Shakopee (0-2) on the board in the third period. Royal goalie Jackson Nelson stopped 12 of 13 shots, and Shakopee’s Alex Geyen 37 of 41.

Rogers (2-1) will play at St. Michael-Albertville on Saturday at 7 p.m.
