Bryceton Butkiewicz’s four goals including three in the second period proved to much as the Rebels of Moose Lake Area knocked off St. Paul Highland Park by a score of 7-4 Saturday afternoon in Moose Lake at the Riverside Arena. Butkiewicz who had the natural hat trick in the second period helped the Rebels come from behind for their third win of the season. The Scots to a 2-1 lead into the first period intermission as the Rebels managed only one goal coming from Jesse Granfors with an assist to Asa Spicer.
Bryceton scored the game tying goal just 58 seconds into the second period as he beat net minder Jack Branby from the right face-off circle to tie the game at 2-2. Joey Whited and Wyatt Lampel set up Butkiewicz for his second goal of the game at 8:05 of the third period and a Rebels 3-2 lead. Richie Parzy made it 4-2 55 seconds later as he scored an unassisted goal after he intercepted a center ice pass, took it up the side boards mad a move towards the net and beat Branby for the goal. Bryceton made the score 5-2 as he scored a short handed goal as he stole a clearing pass and skated in and beat Branby from the slot and the three goal lead after two periods. Gabe Nelson cut the Rebels lead to 5-3, but the Rebels answered back again as Wyatt Lampel had a slap shot that beat the Highland Park goalie for the Rebels again to have a three goal lead at 6-3. Bryceton’s fourth goal of the game was a unassisted power play goal at 8:07 of the third period which sealed the victory even though the Scots scored a late goal to make it a three goal difference. Logan McNaulty stopped 18-22 shots he faced for the victory, as the Rebels improve to 3-12 on the season.
