Royal boys top Chisago Lakes 5-1

The Rogers Royals took a quick 3-0 lead and defeated Chisago Lakes 5-1 in a conference game at home Saturday evening.

Scoring in the first period were Jason Roberge on a power play, Vinny Billing shorthanded, and Dustin Schoepke even-strength. Branden Cecil struck in the second period and Jac Meteja in the third.

Ryan Puetz and Shane Smith made two assists each, and Roberge, Sam Libke and Cody Luftman one each.

Rogers had just a 24-22 edge in shots with Jackson Nelson stopping 21 of 22. Billy Knaack had the goal for the Wildcats (2-12-1).

Rogers (6-9) has scored 10 goals in its last two games (they beat Anoka 5-4 on Tuesday) after scoring just five goals total in a four-game losing streak.

The Royals will host Osseo on Tuesday.
