State's top players to be showcased

Series of all-star events begins in Plymouth on April 16

Standout players from high schools from around the state will be showcased over two weekends at Plymouth Ice Arena starting on April 16.

The Advanced 16 and Advanced 17 festivals are eight-team bracketed tournaments featuring select players from each of the state's 16 Class A and AA high school league sections. Class A and AA players are combined to form eight teams in each age group.

The Advanced 16 and 17 tournaments will be held April 16-18, with the top 54 players from each group advancing to the the Advanced 16 & 17 Final 54 on April 23-25.

The CCM Minnesota High School Hockey National Invitational also will be held on April 23-25 at Plymouth Ice Arena. The tournament features a team of Minnesota's top seniors as selected from the Ted Brill Great 8 Festival as well as a Minnesota U-18 team of juniors too old to compete in the Advanced 17 event.

Other teams in the Minnesota NIT include all-star teams of senior-aged players from Michigan, North Dakota and Wisconsin.
