Dylan Hoen scored on the power play in the first period to give BSM an early 1-0 lead.
ALBERTVILLE, Minn. -- Alexander Brigino stopped 10 of 11 shots, Jerome Newhouse registered a goal and an assist and Benilde-St. Margaret's opened its junior varsity slate with a 3-1 win at St. Michael-Albertville.
Newhouse, in his first game at part of the Red Knight program, helped set up Dylan Hoen's first-period power-play goal at the game's 10 minutes, 35 second mark before tallying BSM's third goal, another power-play tally, at 6:17 of the second period.
In between, Michael McNeil scored in his first BSM game, 3:46 into the second period.
The hosts got their lone goal from Zach Sjelin with 7:17 to play in the middle period but it was the only goal Brigino would allow as the Red Knights used a 31-11 advantage in shots on goal, including a 13-0 margin in the third period, to overpower the Knights.
Next up for BSM is a Northern Minnesota road trip as they will be at the Marshall School in Duluth, Friday, for a 3 p.m. game at Mars Lakeview Arena before travelling west to Grand Rapids, Saturday, for a 6 p.m. game at the IRA Civic Center.
