Red Knights JV skates to 3-3 tie with Blaze

BSM remains unbeaten with tie at Burnsville.

BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's led three times and each time Burnsville answered as the team's skated to a 3-3 tie.

The Red Knights held a 15-5 advantage in shots on goal in the opening 15 minutes but could only take a 1-0 lead as Ben Scherer scored eight minutes, six seconds into the game.

An early second-period goal by Jacob Becker tied the game for the Blaze but James Norkosky restored the one-goal lead for BSM with 6:36 to play in the middle stanza.

Burnsville tied the game again with 2:27 to play in the second period when Daniel Sandvig scored a 5-on-3 power-play goal but, 48 seconds later, Joe Collins scored his second short-handed goal of the season to give the visitors a 3-2 lead entering the final period.

The Red Knights maintained the lead through the first half of the final frame but Brock Schultz scored with 7:03 to play to tie the game and the team's did not play an overtime period.

The Red Knights held a 34-18 advantage in shots on goal for the game as Alex Brigino made 15 saves.

BSM plays the last of its five road games to start the season Thursday, when the Red Knights take on Hill-Murray at 5:30 p.m. at Aldrich Arena in Maplewood.
