THIEF RIVER FALLS — The Bemidji High School boys’ hockey team remains unbeaten after the Lumberjacks walked away with a 7-3 road win over Thief River Falls Tuesday night at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
Rocky Copiskey, Brady Tatro and Nick Leitner each scored a pair of goals for the Lumberjacks, with Leitner scoring the eventual game-winner. Ethan Johnson also netted two goals for the Prowlers.
“We turned the puck over a couple times, and that affected us, but the team buckled down and found a way to score some goals,” Bemidji head coach Wade Chiodo said.
The Tatro-Pollock-Copiskey line combined for five of the Lumberjacks six goals.
“Our one line had a really good game: Brady Tatro, Pollock and Copiskey,” Chiodo said. “That line really played well together. They moved the puck extremely well.”
Bemidji scored 2:17 into the game on a Leitner goal to give the Lumberjacks an early lead, but the Prowlers evened the score just 15 seconds later on a Michael Johnson goal.
Bemidji took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission after Tatro converted on the power play.
Alex Pollock put the Lumberjacks up 3-1 before Ethan Johnson made it a one-goal game yet again. With less than a minute to go in the second period, Leitner scored 4-2 to put Bemidji on top for good.
Copiskey scored twice in the final frame, along with Tatro, to bring the game to its final score of 7-3.
Bemidji will travel to Warroad Thursday night for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
