Early two-goal lead not enough to fend off Eden Prairie.

Dylan Hoen set up both of BSM's first period goals as the Red Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's scored a pair of early goals but Eden Prairie responded with four consecutive goals and claimed a 5-3 win to hand the Red Knights their first loss of the season.

In the first half of the opening period, things went BSM's way as Jordan Roo scored six minutes, 34 seconds into the game and, 49 seconds later, Joe Collins made it a 2-0 game.

The Eagles cut the lead in half when Benny Blanchard scored on the power-play and, with 1:56 to play, Jake Olsen tied the score.

The visitors dominated play in the second period, outshooting the Red Knights, 9-3, and snapped the 2-2 tie when Joey Graen scored at the 4:30 mark of the middle frame.

A power-play goal by Mason Emerson at 7:08 of the final period extended Eden Prairie's goal to 4-2 but Roo cut the Eagles' lead to one when he scored on the power-play with 3:04 to play in the game.

As the game wound down to the closing moments, the hosts found themselves killing a penalty but pulled goalie Peyton Melin for an extra attacker with 1:37 to play but, despite putting pressure on the Eden Prairie net, Emerson scored with 20 seconds remaining to seal the victory.

Besides Roo's two goals, the Red Knights got a pair of assists from both Dylan Hoen and Michael McNeil.

Special teams proved to be the difference as the Eagles went 3-for-6 on the power play while BSM was 1-for-3.

The Red Knights return to action, Tuesday, when they play host to Blaine in a 5 p.m. game at the SLP Rec Center.
