ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- A four-goal first period, featuring a power-play and two short-handed goals, sent the Benilde-St. Margaret's junior varsity onto a 6-0 win over Elk River in the Sports Authority Holiday Classic at the SLP Rec Center.

The shutout win was the second in a row for the Red Knights, following yesterday's 7-0 win over Lakeville North.

It took BSM little time to get going today as Ben Scherer scored the first of his two goals just two minutes, three seconds into the game and Joe Collins did likewise just over three minutes later.

The Red Knights then scored back-to-back short-handed goals, with Dylan Hoen scoring an unassisted goal with BSM skating two-men short. Collins then beat the final hordn of the first period to extend the Red Knight lead to four goals.

They then came out and quickly extended the lead to six goals with Scherer's second goal coming just 1:12 into the period and Max Jablonski scored just 30 seconds later.

Behind an offense which generated 33 shots on goal, Alex Brigino turned in a solid goaltending performance, stopping all 19 shots he faced to earn his fifth win and second shutout of the season.

BSM wraps up play in the Sports Authority Holiday Classic, and for 2015, with a 12:30 p.m. game versus Maple Grove.
