Boys' hockey roundup (Tues., Jan. 12) : Late goal gives Elk River 5-4 victory over Totino-Grace

ELK RIVER 4, TOTINO-GRACE 3: Nate Horn’s goal with less than 5 minutes left in regulation broke the tie and gave Elk River the game. Freshman Jack Perbix paced the Elks offense with a goal and two assists. Hunter Wesloh and Max Michaelis scored the other two goals for Elk River.

HOLY FAMILY 4, MOUND WESTONKA 0: Junior Mack Byers kicked off the scoring in the first off an assist from Will Garin. Byers added a second goal in the second period, while Garin would get a short-handed goal in the third. Jack Michel scored the Fire’s fourth goal. This was Jaxson Stauber’s second shutout this season.

NORTH ST. PAUL 4, MOUNDS VIEW 3: Malachy Zamacona stopped 51 of 54 shots for a .944 save percentage to lead the Polars to a win. Joe Reubish and Kory Pilarski had two goals for North St. Paul. Matt Gretsch had a goal and an assist for the Mustangs.

CHAMPLIN PARK 5, ROGERS 3: Vinny Billing’s second goal of the night staked the Royals to a 3-1 lead midway through the second. The Rebels scored four unanswered goals in the second and third periods. Keegan Bauman had two goals to lead Champlin Park. Brennan Boynton saved 44 of 47 shots to get the win.

BLOOMINGTON KENNEDY 3, CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI 2: Cambridge-Isanti’s Jordan Busse scored early in the game. Jacob Ekholm then scored twice to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead after one period. Erik Swenson’s goal for the Bluejackets in the third set up Caleb Wessel’s game winner three minutes later.

MINNEHAHA ACADEMY 5, SOUTH ST. PAUL 4: The Redhawks rallied with two goals in the final five minutes to pull out the victory.Cole Knutson’s second goal of the game, a power-play tally at the 12;04 mark, tied the game 4-4. Zach Puterbaugh potted the game-winner on another power play at 14:18  to give Minnehaha Academy the victory. Jake Lundquist and Josh Radtke also scored for the Redhawks. Matt Gellerman scored twice for the Packers.

LEGACY CHRISTIAN 4, PROVIDENCE ACADEMY 3: Sophomore Jarvey Hill’s overtime goal gave the victory to Legacy Christian. Josiah Rosen added two goals to lead Legacy’s offense. Ian Johnson had two goals for Providence Academy.
