Red Knights' JV scores four in the third in win over Jaguars.

LOOMINGTON, Minn. -- After a sluggish 30 minutes of hockey, Benilde-St. Margaret's scored four goals in the final 15 minutes as the junior varsity posted a 4-1 win at Bloomington Jefferson.

The opening period saw the teams combined for just eight shots on goal before the pace picked up in the second period.

The Red Knights had a 13-4 advantage in shot in the second period but it was the Jaguars who went into the second intermission with the lead as Charlie Jamieson put the hosts on top, one minute 41 seconds into the stanza.

That lead would last for more than 17 minutes before Ben Scherer's 10th goal of the season tied the game early in the third period.

The Red Knights did not get a power-play chance until the game's final eight minutes but converted with 7:26 to play with Joe Collins' team-leading 17th goal of the season.

BSM's defensive corps contributed to the offense when Michael McNeil fed Jerome Newhouse for an insurance goal with 4:43 to play before Matthew Kocourek's power-play goal with 1:21 to play in the game finished the scoring.

The Red Knights' four-goal third period  highlighted the team's dominance over the final 15 minutes as they held a 19-7 advantage in shots in the frame and, for the game, outshot their josts, 37-14.

Peyton Melin returned to the BSM lineup for the first time in a month and turned aside 13 of the 14 shots he faced to earn the victory in goal.

The Red Knights return home, Tuesday, for their first game in 16 days at the St. Louis Park Rec Center as they host Minnetonka, on the East Rink, at 5 p.m.
