Star Tribune all-metro SECOND TEAM


Forwards

Noah Cates, Stillwater, junior: Scored 23 goals for state-bound Ponies, including the electrifying section final winner. Sets the tone at practice and in games.

Will Garin, Holy Family Catholic, senior: Headed to Connecticut. Great speed. Sparked offense with 25 goals and 27 assists.

Max Johnson, Lakeville North, senior: One opposing coach called him “the type of player you want on your team.” Scored 29 goals. Committed to Bowling Green.

Defense

Erik Holmstrom, Farmington, senior: Scored 13 goals, tallied 30 assists and helped Tigers to state.

Jason Smallidge, St. Thomas Academy, senior: Steady hand on the blue line for an young Cadets team. Scored three of his 11 goals in the playoffs.

Goalie

Ryan Bischel, Benilde-St. Margaret’s, junior: Carried the Red Knights at times during unbeaten regular season. Finished 24-1-1 with a 2.13 goals-against average.
