Mayer, Hoen to take part in HP Festivals at Plymouth Ice Center

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Minnesota Hockey released the rosters for this weekend's CCM High Perfermance 16 & 17 Festivals at the Plymouth Ice Center.

Junior defenseman Connor Mayer will take part in the HP 17 Festival as part of the Section 6 team.

Mayer, who was elected by his teammates to be a BSM co-captain next season, was chosen to participate with the U.S. Under-17 Select Team at the Five Nations Tournament last summer, in Arosa, Switzerland, during which he scored a goal and added two assists in four games.

A third-team Minneapolis Star Tribune All-Metro selection, Mayer's second varsity campaign was a breakout season.

He scored 10 goals and 27 points in 24 games while leading the team with 51 blocked shots, showing his prowess in both ends of the ice.

The Red Knight junior committed to the University of Connecticut last season and showed the Huskies' staff that they have a solid player in their future.

Mayer was at his best in key games down the stretch, scoring points in each of his last 10 games, tallying seven goals and 18 points during that time, including seven multiple-point games.

Sophomore Dylan Hoen will take part in the HP 16 Festival as part of the Section 6 squad.

Hoen made one varsity appearance for the Red Knights in 2015-16, playing in the team's season-opening 6-1 win at St. Michael-Albertville, Nov. 24.

As a freshman, in 2014-15, he registered a goal and five points while playing in all 25 games for the BSM junior varsity.

This season he again played all 25 games during the JV schedule, leading the team with 22 assists while finishing with 10 goals and 32 points. He also led the team's forwards with 14 blocked shots and won 57.0 percentage of his faceoffs.

The 2016 CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance Program season kicked off March 18-20 with its HP 18 Festival, in which senior forward Nick Sims was a participant.

The CCM Minnesota Hockey High Performance 15, 16, 17 & 18 programs are designed to identify the best players in Minnesota and to provide the top players from each district or section the chance to play with and against the best players in the state.

From those events, the top players will be chosen to represent Minnesota Hockey at a national festival/camp, sponsored by USA Hockey.

The national camps will involve the top players from each of the USA Hockey districts and will be used to identify the top performers in each age group for possible opportunities to represent the United States at advanced levels of national and international competition.

Connor Mayer was a member of the U.S. Under-17 Select Team at the Five Nations Tournament last summer.

Dylan Hoen led the BSM JV with 22 assists this season.
