Top Games: Wayzata hosts Hermantown in clash of defending state champions

With the first weekend of boys' high school hockey games in the rear view mirror, it's time to turn our gaze to the week ahead and focus on a full slate of matchups as season begins in earnest for every team across the state.

Plenty of northern teams are heading south to test their might against metro giants, while other programs across the state look to make the most of their nonconference scheduling.

While all contests are be important for various reasons, it's difficult to ignore one for the obvious reasons.

Wayzata hosts Hermantown on Friday in a matchup that features both of last year's state champions and is an easy choice for our Top Game of the Week.
