BSM routs Marshall for first victory of season.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Lukas Metcalfe and Charlie Bischel each scored twice and the Benilde-St. Margaret's junior varsity collected its first win of 2016-17 with a 9-0 victory of the Marshall School of Duluth.

The Red Knights struck early and often against the Hilltoppers, taking a 1-0 lead just 74 seconds into the contest on a Matthew Kocourek goal with Metcalfe and Bischel each adding goals before the game's nine-minute mark.

Leading 3-0, BSM pput the game away with four goals in the first half of the second period.

The four-goal outburst came in less than two minutes as Luke Coughlin scored at 5:33 of the middle stanza to kick off the outburst. Bischel added his second goal less than 90 seconds later and, in the next 32 seconds, Jett Johnson and Jack Rigler added goals to make it a 7-0 game.

Metcalfe then scored a short-handed goal midway through the third period and Everett Palmer's goal with 5:10 to play in the game wrapped up the scoring.

Fourteen of BSM's 17 skaters collected points, nine of whom had multiple-point games.

With the Red Knights holding a 51-6 advantage in shots on goal, Jonathan Vitelli was the recipient of the team's dominant performance, collecting the shutout victory with a six-save performance.

BSM is back in action tomorrow afternoon when it hosts Grand Rapids in a 12:30 p.m. contest.


Cole Anderson assisted on a pair of goals and was plus four.
