ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Less than 18 hours after posting a 9-0 shutout, the Benilde-St. Margaret's junior varsity posted a second consecutive shutout, handing Grand Rapids a 6-0 defeat.
The Red Knights got off to a fast start, scoring three goals in the first seven minutes, seven seconds, as Cole Anderson, Matthew Kocourek and Michael Lothenbach each scored to give the hosts a 3-0 lead.
However, despite holding a 14-4 advantage in shots on goal in the second period, the hosts were unable to expand its three-goal lead.
The third period saw the Red Knights score a pair of power-play goals to get back on track offensively, both of which came during a five-minute major power play.
Lukas Metcalfe scored at 2:33 of the final period and, less than two minutes later, Caelan Woog capitalized on the power-play change to five BSM a 5-0 lead.
The Red Knights sent the game into running time and finished the scoring when Jake Leonard scored with 7:20 to play in the game.
BSM had a 40-13 advantage in shots on goal and Jack Sawyer made 13 saves for his first Red Knight victory.
BSM will be back in action, Thursday, when it plays hosts to Hill-Murray in a 5 p.m. game.
