Red Knights unable to keep up with Eagles' attack.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Goals by Caelan Woog and James Norkosky kept Benilde-St. Margaret's within striking distance but Eden Prairie scored back-to-back short-handed goals late in the second period en route to a 9-3 junior varsity win.

The Eagles had taken a 2-0 lead into the first intermission and extended the lead to three goals with a power-play tally less than two minutes into the second period.

Just 53 seconds after that goal, Woog scored the first of his two goals on the night to bring the Red Knights back to within two goals.

Eden Prairie would counter less than two minutes later but James Norkosky made it 4-2 with nine minutes, 27 seconds showing on the clock in the middle period.

After that, the Eagles began to put the game away, getting a short-handed goal from Colin Farris, the second of his three goals, and another from Sam Wilhite at 13:23, who would scored three minutes later to send the hosts into the second intermission with a 7-2 lead.

Farris finished his hat trick and sent the game into running time 3:19 into the third period and the scored remained that way until Woog's second goal, with 5:41 to play, put a halt to running time.

Carson Jones fixed that for the Eagles just 28 seconds later when he finished the scoring.

Eden Prairie outshot BSM, 35-17, as Jonathan Vitelli stopped 26 shots for the the Red Knights, who have a week off before returning to action next Saturday to face Hopkins in a 5 p.m. game at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.

Caelan Woog recorded his first two-goal game as a Red Knight.
