Rochester Mayo falls 6-5 to Class 1A 6-ranked Hibbing/Chisholm in overtime

Lorne Grosso, coach of Rochester Mayo, is one victory away from surpassing coach Willard Ikola on the national career wins list for high school hockey.

Grosso, currently tied with Ikola with 616 wins, could become the second coach during the 2010-2011 season to pass the Edina legendary coach after Albert Lea's Roy Nystrom won his 617 game on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010.

Grosso's Spartans lost 6-5 in overtime to Hibbing/Chisholm on Friday, Jan. 7. Rochester Mayo and Grosso will have another chance when the Spartans host Virginia / Mountain Iron-Buhl on Saturday, Jan. 8.
