Strong showing by Red Knight JV falls short to Lakeville North

Third-period goal spells defeat for BSM.

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's rebounded from Saturday's nine-goal loss but a third-period goal by Lakeville North proved to be the difference in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the visiting Panthers.

Lukas Metcalfe scored the only goal of the first period, with two minutes, 26 seconds to play in the opening frame, as the Red Knights took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

North struck for a pair of goals in the opening five minutes of the second period to take a 2-1 lead, which they held until the final minute of the middle frame, when Metcalfe scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season with 36 seconds on the clock while his team was on the power-play.

The Panthers had a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal in the final period making one of them count the most as Sam Enebak scored the eventual game winner with 8:24 to play in the game.

The Red Knights held a 23-20 edge in shots on goal with Peyton Melin making 17 saves in the defeat.

Next up for BSM is another home game, Thursday, when the Red Knights host Wayzata in a 5 p.m. game at the St. Louis Park Recreation Center.
