Red Knights claim conference win at Jefferson.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's jumped out to an early lead and only lost its shutout bid with 40 seconds to play as the Red Knights snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-1 win at Bloomington Jefferson.

BSM controlled the game early on and got a pair of goals from slot area as Cole Anderson scored 2:40 into the game and Jett Johnson made it 2-0 with 6:56 to play in the opening frame.

The score would remain that way through an uneventful second period, which saw no goals, no penalties and just 10 shots on goal between the two teams.

The Red Knights snapped out of those doldrums at 3:25 of the final period when Caelan Woog scored to put the guests ahead by three goals.

Jonathan Vitelli, who finished with 18 saves, lost his shutout bid when the Jaguars' Collin Anderson scored a short-handed goal with 40 seconds remaining in the game.

BSM returns to the Bloomington Ice Garden, Saturday, for a 12 p.m. game with Bloomington Kennedy.

Jonathan Vitelli made 18 saves and came within 40 seconds of posting his third shutout of the season.
