Austin makes commitment to Colgate

Red Knight alum to head east next season.

The second member of BSM's graduating class of 2016 has committed to play hockey at an NCAA Division I institution as former Red Knight defenseman, Nick Austin ('16) has made a verbal commitment to Colgate University.

Currently, Austin is the leading scoring defenseman for the Madison Capitols of the United States Junior League with two goals and 11 points.

Austin scored 14 goals and 64 points during his four-year Red Knight career, in which he played all 109 of the teams' games during that time.

He had a breakout senior season, scoring 11 goals and 41 points in 27 games, earning first-team Associated Press All-State and Minneapolis Star Tribune All-Metro honors, while being a finalist for the Reed Larson Award as the state's top senior defenseman.

He is the second member of the Austin family to commit to play hockey at a Division I institution, joining his brother, Johnny ('14), who is a junior at Connecticut.

He joins former teammate Cade Gleekel, who will play at St. Lawrence next season, as the second member of the 2015-16 Red Knight squad to made a commitment this season.
