Player of the Week candidates for Feb. 20-25

The other candidates

Bailey Sommers, Redwood Valley. The senior forward tallied four points, including one goal and three assists, in a 5-4 win over Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato. Sommers, who leads the state in goals (48) and ranks fifth in assists (70), assisted on the game-winner 39 seconds into overtime.

The other candidates

Dalton Agnes, Bagley/Fosston. The senior forward scored three goals and added an assist in a 5-4 win over Park Rapids. Agnes completed his hat trick midway through the game, with all goals coming on power plays, and assisted on the overtime game-winning goal 4:41 into the extra frame.

Tyler Defore, Red Wing. Defore recorded four points for the sixth time this season, tallying three goals and an assist in a 6-5 win over Albert Lea. With Red Wing down 4-1 going into the third period, the senior forward scored midway through the period on the power play, then again with 24 seconds left in the third to tie the game. Defore then netted the game-winner late in the second overtime.

Matt Fischer, Brainerd. Fischer scored two goals and added an assist in a 5-4 win over Bemidji. With Brainerd down 3-0, the junior forward scored his team's first goal 10:44 into the second, then scored the game-winner 1:57 into overtime.

Mike Knezevich, Moose Lake Area. The junior forward scored one goal and added two assists in a 5-4 overtime win over Becker/Big Lake. Knezevich's goal was the game-winner 7:42 into overtime.

Jeremy Manzella, Eagan. The senior goalie stopped 45 of 46 shots he faced in a 2-1 overtime win over Rosemount, posting a .978 save percentage.

Eric Newman, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton. Newman recorded a win in a 2-1 double overtime victory over Duluth Marshall, playing 65 minutes, 18 seconds. The senior goalie stopped 28 shots for a .966 save percentage.

Bennett Poganski, Tartan. The junior goalie posted his third shutout of the season, making 29 saves in a 1-0 win over White Bear Lake.

Cade Salentine, Crookston. The junior goalie stopped 30 of 31 shots he faced for a .968 save percentage in a 2-1 win over Detroit Lakes. Salentine stood tall late in the game, playing a total of 66 minutes, 9 seconds through the double overtime.

Bryden Stoskopf, Roseau. Stoskopf scored three goals and added an assist in a 6-5 win over Buffalo. With Roseau down 4-2 entering the third period, the senior forward registered three points, including a shorthanded goal in the third period. He went on to score the game-winner 3:33 into the second overtime.
