The Austin boys’hockey team snapped a four-game losing streak Thursday night, defeating Mankato East, 8-1 in Mankato.

Marcus Stoulil scored a hat-trick and an assist in the win with Josh Hart and Jaret Retterath each adding a pair of goals and Ethan Larson scored one in the win.

“This was a must win to help us with the section seeding,” coach Tim Peterson said.

In the past four games the Packers have lost by a combined margin of 37-4, so this win came at a good time.

“We played fantastic tonight,” Peterson said. “This was a big conference win and a big section game for us. We went out and performed and they did that for themselves.”

Rainer Londino-Green was in the net and got the win for Austin.

“He played fantastic,” Peterson said. “He saved us a few times.”

Austin dominated on the shot count firing 33 shots total on net while Londino-Green faced just 11 shots.

The Packers improve to 4-16 with another big section game Saturday night when they hit the road again to take on St. Peter/LeSueur-Henderson/Le Center/Montgomery-Lonsdale.
