As the thrilling state championship game between Duluth East and Eden Prairie headed into overtime, four members of the Class 2A all-tournament team lined up in the tunnel.
Per tradition, twelve of the tournament's top players were to be honored following the conclusion of the title game.
With eight members of the all-tournament team on the ice fighting for the title, Nick Kuchera and Will Merchant of Eagan as well as Brandon Wahlin of White Bear Lake and Charlie Lindgren of Lakeville North waited to receive their awards.
Though they had to wait it out during three overtime sessions, they were given front row seats to a great show as Eden Prairie's Kyle Rau eventually tapped in a loose puck to defeat Duluth East 3-2.
After the Eagles' celebration ended, twelve players received all-tournament honors following the longest state championship game in history.
Along with the announcement of the all-tournament team, White Bear Lake's Garen David was also named the 2011 Herb Brooks award recipient on Saturday, March 12.
The team was selected by a panel of coaches and media attending the tournament.
