PRIOR LAKE, Minn. -- Benilde-St. Margaret's went 2-0-1 in the Tradition Hockey for Life Classic at the Dakota! Ice Center.

The Red Knights opened with a 2-0 win, Thursday, over Stillwater, getting second-period goals from Jake Hankinson and Axel Toft while outshooting the Ponies, 29-5.

Friday's 2-1 win over Holy Family was decided on Jonah Mortenson's short-handed goal in the second period.

Jack Olson's 18 saves earned him his team-leading third win of the season.

The only blemish on BSM's record was a 3-3 tie, Saturday, with Elk River.

The Red Knights had to come from twice to earn the tie as Logan Lyke scored late in first period to tie the game at 1-1.

A power-play goal, their second of the game, by the Elks, three minutes, 36 seconds into the final period, put BSM down 2-1 but Will Thompson responded less than a minute later to cut the lead to one and, with 4:19 to play, Brady Giertsen scored on the power play to tie the game.

The Red Knights held a 28-23 edge in shots on goal with Jonathan Vitelli stopping 20 shots.

BSM returns to play when they return to Metro West Conference play by taking on Chaska, Thursday, at 5 p.m. at the Chaska Community Center.
