Loren Nelson: Duluth East defenseman Frederick Hunter Paine explaining to the media why he goes by both his first and middle name (“It’s complicated,” he said as his opening salvo) and which one he prefers (Frederick).

 

David La Vaque: Batter up! Dane Korsi honored his baseball roots on Orono’s game-winning goal in overtime of the semifinals. The puck popped up, Korsi swung and the Spartans continued their state title pursuit.

Attendance

Announced attendance for the Class 2A game was 18,914. The Class 1A attendance was announced as 8,544.
