Troy Riddle VA·Assistant Coach

BSM alum Troy Riddle rejoined the Red Knight staff for the 2012-13 season after a one-year hiatus to return to the professional playing ranks. He also served on the BSM staff in 2010-11.

Riddle left BSM after leading the Red Knights to their first state title in 1999 with a 54-goal, 99-point season. He completed his high school career with 105 goals and 206 points and still holds BSM single-season records for goals and points.

Riddle spent one season with Des Moines in the United States Hockey League and was subsequently drafted in the fourth round, 129th overall, of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues.

He then spent four seasons at the University of Minnesota. His career as a Golden Gopher saw him finish tied for 10th on the school’s career goal-scoring list (82) and tied for 13th in career points (178).

Riddle represented the USA during his freshman season at the World Junior Championship and was named to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s all-rookie team at the end of the 2000-01 season.

The next two seasons, Riddle helped lead the Gophers to NCAA championships. He was named third team All-WCHA as a junior in 2003 and was a team captain in 2003-04, earning the team’s Tom Mohr Playoff MVP Award at the conclusion of his senior season.

Riddle then went onto play six seasons of professional hockey, winning an East Coast Hockey League title with the Alaska Aces in 2005. He played 359 games in those six seasons, scoring 95 goals and 216 points, before joining the Red Knights as an assistant coach in 2010-11.

In 2011, he accepted an offer to play professionally for the Tohoku Free Blades of the Asia League, where he spent the 2011-12 season.

Riddle currently resides in Champlin and is a business development executive for Taylor Corp.
