Player of the Year Nomination

Brett Bukowski

We would like to nominate Brett Bukowski, 6’0”, 180 lb. Defensemen from the Superior Spartans for the WHCA Player of the Year.

In his 4th year as a varsity hockey player, Brett has been selected by his teammates to be the captain of the team.  He has earned this recognition by demonstrating outstanding leadership qualities in the classroom and on the ice.  Brett is exceptionally good at maintaining the right attitude on our bench and in the locker room.  Even in the face of defeat, Brett has rallied our team and created a winning atmosphere.  His greatest on-ice attributes are his speed, passing ability, strength, and on-ice awareness.  He has added an offensive dimension to his game this season and is currently forth in scoring.

Brett has always been a leader during off-ice workouts.  He maintains the same level of intensity in the weight room as he does on the ice.  Brett has worked out with elite college and junior hockey players during the past two off-seasons to prepare for hockey.  He has played pre and post-season hockey for Team WI Majors the past two years and as an alternate on Team WI Minors during his sophomore year.  During his time with Team WI he has always spoke highly of his coaches and how the variety of techniques and styles have contributed to his development as a hockey player.

Brett is also a leader in the classroom and is very active in many community endeavors.  Below are his academic statistics, community involvement, and career hockey statistics:

Hockey Awards

Spartan Scholar Athlete of the Year 2009, 2010, 2011

2011 WHCA All-State Honorable Mention

In addition to all of his accomplishments, Brett is an exceptional young man.  Since I have known Brett he has always treated others with respect and decency.  He handles his successes and failures with the same humility and grace which demonstrates the evolution of his maturity as a student-athlete in our community.  It has been a privilege and an honor to have coached such a talented and respected young man and it is my pleasure to nominate Brett Bukowski for the WHCA Player of the Year Award.
