The 6-10 junior forward drew 25 Division I offers, including one from Minnesota, in recruiting that intensified while he played in the high school state tournament.

The Division I college basketball interest in Lakeville North’s Nathan Reuvers intensified right around the boys’ basketball state tournament, when the 6-10 junior forward helped the Panthers reach the Class 4A finals before losing to Hopkins 64-55.

With offers piling up this spring, Reuvers put an end to the speculation Wednesday, announcing through his Twitter feed that he was committing to Wisconsin, one of the first teams to recruit him heavily. He averaged 19.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game last season.

With the announcement, Reuvers rejected the offers from 24 other Division I programs, including a late push from the University of Minnesota. Other notable Division I teams that offered Reuvers included Clemson, Northwestern, Washington St., North Carolina St., Creighton and DePaul.

Reuvers’ value is in his uncommon length and skill set. He grew up playing on the wing instead of having his back to the basket, developing a shooting touch rarely seen in big men. At just a smidge over 200 pounds, however, Reuvers has said in the past that putting on weight will be vital to his development in college.
