No stranger to adversity, David Fischer stays strong

Apple Valley alumus battles off-ice issues, including mother's cancer

David Fischer has a bright future ahead of him.

A 2006 graduate of Apple Valley High School, Fischer was awarded the prestigous Mr. Hockey award during his senior year. He played four seasons with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers and he was the first-round pick by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2006 entry-draft.

Currently playing in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) for the Florida Everblades, the 22-year-old has dealt with several off-ice issues including his mother's cancer.

Yet in the face of adversity, Fischer has remained strong.
